ETS Reaching Out to Bolivia

    Our ministry at ETS is to provide materials, equipment and information to missionaries world wide.  We rarely get to see the impact of our work  or get follow up reports.    We are excited to share the impact of  a six member medical team to Bolivia headed up by Dale and Kathy Mast of YWAM (Youth with a Mission).  

    The team  held a clinic for church members of Morros Blanco in Tarija near the border of Argentina.  Dr. Conrad Zapanta  was able to  attend, pray over and give out donated medications to  church members, friends and neighbors of the church.  The team was also invited by the chaplain of a local prison to share in a worship service and to also treat the medical needs of 54  prisoners.  ETS has donated over the counter medications, and medical   supplies to Dr. Zapanta for many of his medical mission trips.

     The team was also able to serve in a jungle town of San Borja in the Amazon.  The clinic was held in a Christian School with grades K-7.  Dr. Zapanta saw 75  patients at this location.

 

     ETS was able to provide Spanish Bibles and Christian literature for children in Spanish, along with sports equipment.  We delight in seeing ministries equipped and the gospel proclaimed among the nations.

A Different Kind of Ministry

You may have seen them:  School buses loaded with “stuff” and often towing another bus or truck or pickup…

 

  We often see them rolling down I-81 on their way to Mexico and beyond.

     It’s a business that sometimes offers ministry opportunities.

     Last week Pedro Jose Montufar Paz (more commonly known as “Gerson”) stopped in to load items destined for ministries in Guatemala.  Gerson makes the trip from New Jersey to Chimaltenango, Guatemala once a month.  His wife also often drives one bus while towing another.

     In addition to hundreds of Bibles and Scripture portions, Gerson also loaded 200 Matthew Henry commentaries for a pastors’ seminar, a 5400 watt Craftsman generator, microwave, electric guitar, Peavey sound system, wheelchairs, crutches, and walkers.

The trip takes 8 to 10 days, depending on weather, traffic, breakdowns and crossing international borders.  Drug traffickers that  demand “tolls” can also be a challenge.

Gerson is a brother in Christ.  We look forward to working with him to supply some of the needs of ministries south of our border.

Bye- bye clothing and medical supplies

Hardly a week goes by at ETS that we do not  receive a shipment of used clothing.  Our suppliers are people who have had a garage sale and bring us the left over clothing, consignment stores that have excess inventory, or clothing from individuals.   We are blessed with volunteers that sort each piece of clothing and  more volunteers who box it up for shipping.  

     We were very pleased to be able to ship out over 1000 boxes of clothing as well as medical relief supplies to Jezreel Ministries in New York.  This is our second shipment to Jezreel this year and we were very glad to have the help of our local Teen Challenge guys to help load the tractor trailer.

     One of the greatest privileges that we have is seeing materials and goods leave ETS for humanitarian relief of brothers and sisters throughout the world.  This shipment will benefit people in Eastern Europe.  We always enjoy praying over the contents and for those that will be  receiving them that they will come to know our Lord and Savior and be encouraged .

     We are saddened by the recent resignation of Earl Wilbers .  Earl has been with the ETS family for over 13 years and was our  primary pick up and delivery person.  Earl helped load this last container and will certainly be missed.  Please keep him in your prayers as he pursues  local employment opportunities .

Teen Challenge Boys

Teen Challenge boys

Teen Challenge was called that morning to see if they could send some guys to

help load the tractor trailer with clothing, shoes, blankets and materials for Jezreel Ministries in New York.

Work began about 11am.  Charlie and Earl swept out the container 3 times before they work could begin.  Teen Challenge sent 4 guys. 

 

All boxes were loaded and then medical equipment was loaded on (crutches, exam tables,  potty chairs, etc.)

The guys prayed over the truck and it’s contents before the door was closed.

Lunch and drinks provided by ETS.  Teen Challenge also given a microwave and      several DVD’s for their service.

Could you Give Me a Hand?

     How many times have you asked someone this?   Were you ever successful in getting help?  Have you been asked to help out some, and wondered it this was something you should do?

     We have a new volunteer at ETS, who has answered our call for help, and he has already made a big difference in our ministry.  Dave Snyder is a retired Physicians' Assistant (and a ham radio operator) with a love for electronics and a good knowledge of sound equipment.  She serves his church in their sound ministry, and now is helping us several days a week in our electronics room.

     We have begun by completely remodeling the room, and disposing of obsolete and unrepairable equipment.  When we have finished this task, we will have a well-furnished repair facility for sound and medical equipment.  This is a ministry with far reaching implications.  We want to be able to help missions around the world with affordable and appropriate electronic items.  There may be used items that we have repaired or new equipment that we have purchased from wholesale suppliers.

     Do you have skills like Dave's that need to be used in ministry?  How are you spending your spare time or your retirement years?  consider giving back to the Lord a portion of what He has given you, not just in your finances, but in actual ministry.  If you are looking for a place to serve the Lord you could be the answer to our prayers.

Linda Beard, Ministry Partner

     Meet Linda Beard.  Cancer  survivor for the last 20 years and still fighting through 4 separate cancers, tens of cycles of treatments, hundreds of scans and test.  Linda and Roland Beard will tell you that there is nothing special about who they are or what they do.
 
The Beards head up a ministry called Christ Works Ministries in Crozet, Virginia.  The ministry grew out of their love for the Lord and their gift of hospitality.  The Beards simply saw a need and filled it.  Their philosophy is start where you are, with what you have and God will multiply your outreach.  Linda says, "The message is simple:  any believer can do this because it only depends on a person's willingness and God's strength.  With this in view, we continue our projects and practical helps, but we especially seek to encourage others to do the same thing."


   In the last few weeks Linda has purchased teaching materials, teaching models, and charts for a nursing school in the Philippines.  ETS donated 14 sets of bunk beds as well as 312 pounds of hospital linens, and 536 pounds of over the counter medications and medical supplies.  The picture on the right shows some of her recent purchases (solar panel, sound system, kitchenware, as well as laboratory glassware.)

ETS on the Move

No, ETS isn't moving but we did move out over 36,000 pounds of clothing, books, beds and medical supplies last month with the help of the Liberty Christian Boys Brigade of Maryland. The boys and their leaders drove down Friday night and we started loading the 53 foot tractor trailer at 9 AM Saturday Morning.

The tractor trailer was provided by Jezreel International, a faith based 501 C humanitarian aid organization based in New York. Jezreel International was started in 1996 as a response to seeing the dire straits of the poor in the former Soviet Union.

Currently they have shipped desperately needed medical and hospital supplies, food, clothing, personal care and hygiene products, toys, new shoes and sneakers to Israel and over 30 nations in need. In addition, they also have been a resource for area rescue shelters for battered women, drug addicts and alcoholics, pro-life pregnancy centers, inner-city ministries and veterans relief organizations. We wish to thank all the many groups of volunteers that gave so freely of their time to sort, box, and move the 1177 boxes of clothing and coats that were donated to this ministry. It was wonderful to see them loaded and then to have the opportunity to pray over the container and its contents before it was driven away.

We rely on our volunteers to help us meet the needs of missionaries world wide.
